Inspiration for the Big Blue Lagoon Painting
I love to paint large scale paintings and this has been a series I have enjoyed for quite a few years now, below you can see just a few of them. All of these are done on canvas and measure 150cm x 100cm and look super as a backdrop to a sofa say in a lovely conservatory or living room. I have one at home that faces our bed so when I wake up it greets me (most people think of putting it above the headboard) but I think you cant sit in bed with a coffee and look at it then!
The recent Colonnade exhibition in Worthing is the perfect space for me to show my large scale paintings. It is full of light and has big white walls. I don't get the chance very often to show the big paintings as space can be a premium.

I started the Big Blue Lagoon painting in 2022! I had just mapped out what I was doing when I had a request to do a very large commission for outdoors so it took over and the painting was put on hold. After the commission was finished I went back to it in stages and in August 2025 I finally finished it! I had started in acrylics and since then I have reverted back to my all time medium - oils.
The painting went several major changes during this time, with figures being replaced and things moved around. You can see a video I made on Instagram of how the painting progressed over time and all the changes of clothes I wore during the three year period from shorts to a balaclava in winter!
I was asked at the Colonnade where the painting is referencing and the answer is 'somewhere in the Mediterranean', its a memory of all of my visits to various places in the Med and put into one painting. I also thought of all the blue lagoons that various countries have and that I have never actually visited (on my list!).
I am also offering this painting as a print in 3 sizes, small, medium and actual original size. These prints are beautifully made and are produced by one of the finest printers. If you wish to order one it will take around 8-10 days and can be delivered to you. To order one, check them out here and then click on the contact link to let me know. You can pay for it at the check out online.
best wishes Jane
